The extraction steps of a cfDNA-based assay may contribute to significant variation in the final result due to factors in human plasma that affect either the extraction or the subsequent PCR. One reason for the lack of research in this area is that contamination of gDNA from normal plasma donors prevents accurate cfDNA (~170bp) measurement. BioChain offers cfPure DNA-free plasma which has all the DNA removed using proprietary technology without affecting the composition of other plasma components. With this product, the DNA content is as low as 0 to 10 pg/ml. Other plasma components such as total protein, immunoglobulins, and lipids are all within the normal range. This DNA-depleted plasma may be used as a matrix for QC standards, focusing on its ability to monitor both the specificity and sensitivity of the cfDNA extraction method.
